Once upon a time, in a large forest, there lived a poor woodcutter and his wife. Cold, hunger, poverty, and war all around them made their lives very difficult. One day, the poor woodcutter's wife found a baby. A baby thrown from one of the many trains that constantly passed through their forest. Protected at all costs, this baby, this little commodity, would turn the lives of this woman, her husband, and all those who crossed paths with her upside down, even the man who threw him from the train. Their story would reveal both the worst and the best of human nature.
